Preparing for Your First Visit

Your first visit to Lake Allergy will include a thorough medical evaluation.  After the evaluation, you may be asked to return for skin testing, breathing test, blood test, or desensitization.  You may also require follow up visits with Dr. Cooke.

Lake Allergy office policy requests payment at the time if service.

The patient, or parent or legal guardian of a child, is responsible for any copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, or fees not covered by insurance at the time of the appointment.

Prior to your testing please adhere to the below instructions:

Skin Testing

5 days prior to testing do not take the following medications:

  • Alavert
  • Allegra
  • Clarinex
  • Claritin
  • Fexofenadine
  • Loratadine
  • Xyzal
  • Zyrtec

2 days prior to testing do not take the following medications:

  • Benadryl
  • Diphenhydramine
  • Nyquil
  • Tylenol PM
  • Other over-the-counter Cold, Allergy, or Nighttime medications

Spirometry

12 hours prior to testing do not take the following long-acting inhalers:

  • Advair
  • Dulera
  • Foradil
  • Serevent
  • Symbicort

6 hours prior to testing do not take the following short-term inhalers:

  • Albuterol
  • Maxair
  • Proair
  • Proventil
  • Ventolin
  • Xopenex
